Sedgwick County Precinct Committee
Every two years a precinct committee man and woman are elected. They represent their area to the party meetings and vote on policy and platforms. If an elected official has to vacate their seat in the middle of their term, it is the precinct committee men and women who chose and appoint the successor to fulfill the term. The local county ones also elect delegates to the state party and then to the national party. The only way to really change the GOP back to its roots is for good people to get involved and run for these offices. Currently in Sedgwick County only a tiny fraction of those appointed or elected ever show up for a meeting. Instead they give their proxy to a few privileged who then get to vote multiple times.
Look up your precinct number and then look below to see who is representing your area. Let us know if there isn't someone in your precinct and we may be able to get you appointed.
Go to the Sedgwick County Election office located under the stairway of the Historic County Courthouse at the corner of Central and Market. Tell the clerk that you would like to run for Precinct committee and they will sign you up. There is no filing fee.

Some Current Precinct Committee men and women have asked how to deterime if they are "One of Us?"
Since we do not know everyone it is impossible for us to determine if you are or are not -- but you can.
Let me ask you this, did you find anything strange about the "reorganization" meeting that took place after the election last year?
How many precinct committee meetings have you attended since being elected?
Did you walk door to door in your precinct handing out literature for the Republican candidates?
Do you believe it is okay for a county Chairman to run against another Republican in a primary and not resign his position as party chair?
Do you believe elected officials should hold County party offices?
Do you think that the officers and delegates should be duly elected precinct committeemen and women or do you believe that anyone can hold the position if they are on a slate presented to the precinct people?
Do you believe that county party officials should be open volunteers on candidate's campaigns in a contested primary race?
You probably are figuring out where I am going with all of this. The Precinct project is about changing out the people who are only holding the positions to give their proxies to someone else. It is about ridding the party of corruption and favoritism and having people who will show up and stand up to say "Hey that is not right!!"
So... will you chose to be "One of us?" Or are you "One of them"? The choice is yours!! Send us an e-mail and let us know your choice.
Your history is not your future. We all have remained silent when we shouldn't have but now we choose to speak up.
Will you join us?
If you are unable to fulfill the duties of a precinct person because of health, work or family obligations, please do not file for the 2010 election.
